This qualification develops the knowledge and understanding on hazards and controls related to manual handling. It is aimed at those individuals in the workplace or those seeking to enter the workplace where knowledge of manual handling is required. This qualification will support a role in the workplace. Course Requirements: None Trainer Ratio: 12 Contact Time - 4 Hours This qualification will provide learners with the knowledge of safe manual handling at work in any industry or sector where manual handling is required. Course contents include: - The potential injuries and ill health associated with incorrect manual handling - The various responsibilities relating to manual handling at work - The consequences of non-compliance with Health and Safety requirements at work - The definitions of the terms ‘hazard’ and ‘risk’ in the context of manual handling work - The steps relating to undertaking a manual handling risk assessment - The appropriate risk controls for common manual handling hazards - The safe movement principles associated with manual handling including planning the task; adopting a suitable posture; lifting; transporting; placing; adjusting loads. - The equipment to be used for manual handling tasks - The requirements for the testing, servicing and examination of manual handling and lifting equipment
